LinkTap Gateway is the plug-and-play hub that connects your LinkTap watering system to the internet. It uses a wired Ethernet connection to your router (Ethernet cable and power adapter included), providing a stable and secure link without Wi-Fi pairing hassles. The Gateway enables remote control via the LinkTap app and web portal, supports weather-aware automation, and delivers real-time push and email alerts from your LinkTap devices (water timers, ValveLinker, and Extenders). In the LinkTap app, you can view a device topology graph to visualize connections and optimize placement across your property. Reliable watering even when youre away: watering schedules are stored and executed on the timer/controller, so planned watering can continue even if the Gateway or internet is temporarily offline. Remote control, monitoring, and alerts resume automatically when the connection returns. System expansion is straightforward: manage up to 15 LinkTap devices per Gateway (all device types combined, excluding the Gateway), and add multiple LinkTap Extenders to create a Zigbee mesh network. Extenders can be daisy-chained (multi-hop) to extend coverage further for large yards and difficult sites. Placement tips for best wireless coverage: Place the Gateway high and central (not on the floor). In two-story homes, placing it on the upper floor often improves coverage. Keep it at least ~2 ft (60 cm) away from large metal objects (e.g., refrigerators), power boards, and other 2.4 GHz devices. If possible, run your home Wi-Fi on the 5 GHz band to reduce 2.4 GHz congestion (LinkTap uses Zigbee in the 2.4 GHz spectrum).
