This LED lamp figurine is solar powered and the lantern has an On/Off Switch under the flap of the top part of the lantern. The lantern will automatically come on in the absence of light. Although the battery sockets show two possible placements of battery, the lantern unit only needs one battery (provided with the lantern).

The Solar Lantern that attaches to the sculpture has a black rocker switch underneath the top flap and it needs to be turned to On for the light to work in the absence of light. Refer to the last image to locate the small switch.
