While the overall dimensions of most oval rods is 15mm x 30mm, the actual thickness of the steel can vary greatly. Ours is a robust 22 ga., thicker than many others, so we know you'll be very pleased with its durability.

The heavier steel that goes into our closet poles is the perfect foundation for a fantastic finish. Some manufacturers apply the finish as soon as the goods leave the steel mill. Not us! We make our rods "smooth as a baby's bottom" first, and THEN apply the finish. Oh, and we're not talking about a mere enamel coat here. Nope. We use powder coat, which is MUCH more durable. This is important, since you're expecting it to withstand constant sliding of clothes hangers.

Cutting Pro-Tip
Wrap the cut area with a few layers of painters' tape. Mark the length with a pencil, then use a square to draw a perpendicular cut line. If using an electric jigsaw, the tape will protect the rod from damage. If using a hand hacksaw, the blade will "dig into" the tape as you start the cut, preventing it from wandering. Once the cut is done, remove any burrs with a file or medium-grit sandpaper, and you're good to go! Then take a step back and admire your good work!
